The Rusty Mug

rusty-mug-cheshunt1Earlier in the year I visited “Cheshunt”, a delightful farming property about an hour’s drive west of my home in Tasmania. I had a great morning taking numerous photos, some of which I have already posted on this blog. There was one object that particularly took my attention, a mug. This old, enamel mug was lying on the ground next to a farm building. I wondered how old it was, when had it been used last and by whom? This mug has a story to tell!

I have a T shirt featuring this mug on my Redbubble site: http://www.redbuble.com/people/artkleko

I intend to use this mug in at least two drawings, one of which I have started. I don’t see this mug as simply a vessel for storing liquid. I want to express it as an integral piece of farm life, an important object, maybe a piece of landscape. More tomorrow!
