I spent a productive time yesterday on my latest drawing, “On the Beach”. I have completed the blocking-out stage and I’ve started to add the required detail.

I found it quite boring at times adding ‘sand’ for what seemed hours. As with a lot of coloured pencil work, it’s not just a matter of ‘colouring in’. To create some colours one needs to layer several different pencils to obtain the right shade. To get an even colour requires the process to be repeated at least once. You certainly need patience for this type of drawing!

Today I hope to spend some time on the pumpkin mass to make it more three-dimensional.
