SEMI-ABSTRACTION FROM NATURE

LANDSCAPE ABSTRACT 01

Today’s image is of a quiet backwater on the St. Patrick’s River in Northern Tasmania. I have removed as much of the detail from the photo I took, and (hopefully) have included just enough information to give you an idea of the original subject matter.

Semi-abstraction is an challenging concept. There must be some recognisable shapes and or images. This is a most interesting form of art; the area between what we understand and don’t understand or recognise.

I quite enjoy working this way using paint as I prefer a flat, even finish that can be found with some acrylics and gouache.
