FINDING THE RIGHT MEDIUM Part 3.

MT WELLINGTONThis chalk pastel drawing is of Mount Wellington, Hobart, at sunrise.

Chalk pastels followed oil pastels in my ‘drawing journey’. I love their ability to rapidly cover an area. The colours are sensitive and very applicable to the Tasmanian landscape. The only problem I had was pastel dust. Being asthmatic and sensitive to dust in particular, I ‘moved on’ and took up coloured pencil drawing.

I am quite taken by the soft pastels that are quite popular here in Tasmania. Having worked with them, I did not experience any physical problems. The finished look of these pastels is quite impressive.
