Today’s selection from last Friday’s class is quite varied, and as expected from even such a small group as this.
What you must remember is that the participants and indeed all of the members of the 5 workshops that I conducted on the theme of Abstraction, had little or no experience in this form of art before they signed on. Some were a little hesitant, and rightly so. This was a step from the known (realism) to the unknown (abstraction).
I’m sure that what clinched it for everyone was the physical and emotional enjoyed each member got form the processes that I employed. Art has to be an enjoyable experience. If it’s not, why are you doing it?
Some members enjoyed working with textures, other with collage. Some simply chose to paint. Everyone produced work that was both emotionally and visually satisfying.
