The Pillar Granary at Brickendon is the only building of its kind in the southern hemisphere.

It was built on ‘staddle stones’ to keep vermin and water out, and to circulate air to prevent mould in the stored products.

This method of building construction comes from southern England, the original home of the Archer family and many of their convict servants.

Another fascinating building, ripe for artistic interpretation!
