I haven’t been able to visit Brickendon again (but hope to do so soon) to do some more research for possible drawings. In the meantime I have decided to produce a drawing exclusively in Coloursoft pencils on pastel board.

The still-life composition I want to do has a ‘grainy’ look to it and I thought that this type of pencil would be well up to the task. So far, so good.

This drawing is really all about rubbish, the stuff that is so often found on the ground, in corners. I took a number of photos in Hobart recently of cigarette butts and was amazed to ‘find’ a multitude of (small) objects strewn about. I was captivated by the detail I ‘discovered’, so much so that I had to draw a composition that comprised two photos and some chips that we had for tea last night.

The things artists have to do for their art!

I will keep you informed as the drawing develops.
