On Monday my wife Val and I, visited Hollybank, a State Forestry Reserve not far from Launceston. I collected a variety of leaves for a class in Autumn Abstracts that I am conducting tomorrow week. I shall post more information concerning that class in future updates.

Today, I wanted to show how it is possible to create interesting abstracts out of an average Autumn leaf.

Firstly I scanned the leaf and in Photoshop I did a little tweaking which has resulted in the four examples shown.

I chose a loud palette to contrast with the look of the original.

Which one do you prefer?

I would like to see each of these as two metre square paintings. I think they would look quite spectacular.
