Over the next few days I will be reviewing one painting from each of the three artists who are currently on show at the Mezzanine Gallery, Country Club Tasmania, in Launceston.

Today’s featured painting is by Jenny Sayer.

Wake, is a huge oil painting, some 2 metres high. It hangs at the end of a long corridor and looks spectacular.

This is a very moving painting. Its serenity is quite ‘magnetic’. One is ‘drawn’ towards the painting from a distance.

There is a delightful ‘silence’ about this work, an air of expectation.

The ‘intrusion’ (foreground) will soon disappear and the stillness will return …

Tomorrow I will feature a painting by Louise Skabo.
