BRUNY ISLAND DRAWING 1.

After some careful consideration, I have begun a drawing from my recent trip to Bruny Island. If it works out, I will enter it in the 2011 Wrest Point Art Awards and Exhibition, in January.

It’s early days and the process I go through of blocking out the main foundation colours is well underway.

It’s important to ‘build up’ one’s drawing in layers. This results in greater tone variation, especially when it comes to subtle variations in depth.

The scene is of the view through a sandstone cliff at Two Trees Point, Adventure Bay, which is on the Eastern side of Bruny Island. I love this view as the sandstone acts as a giant frame.

What’s in the frame will become more obvious on Thursday when I will post an update of the drawing’s progress.
