Pumpkins have given me much entertainment over the past 12 months.

The top 3 featured drawings are finished, but the bottom one is still a work – in – progress.

I see such objects as pumpkins in landscape terms. In other words, they become landscape objects or landscapes themselves.

It’s not what you draw that counts, it’s how you ‘see’ your subject. I enjoy looking at a well-executed traditional still-life drawing, but I don’t want my work to be that of imitation. I always seek to challenge my imagination.

Pumpkins offer great potential for abstract work, especially in pencil and pastel.

This particular theme needs further attention!
