I have a good collection of both and from time to time I get them out and construct compositions which often end up as coloured pencil drawings.
Some of my sticks become logs, while my rocks grow into boulders.
I prefer these objects to natural landscapes. I can do so much more with them, especially when it comes to employing symbolism in my work.
There is often a jostling between these objects. Sticks can be at times, very fragile and vulnerable against such solid objects as rocks. In my drawings though, there is equality – both need each other.
In another post I will feature a slight departure, where my sticks become logs for a very specific reason.
