This week I am teaching at the annual Cairns ARTescape conducted by the Cairns Art Society. I will bring you a report later next week. Over the coming weekend we will be moving to Innisfail for 6 weeks where I hope to produce a number of drawings.
In the meantime, I’d like to share with you some preparation I am doing for a major artwork involving the Herberton landscape and its history of tin mining.
It’s interesting to see coloured pencil subjects without colour. It gives one a much better understanding of the value of line and contrast. This type of subject makes for excellent graphite drawing material and I hope to put my graphite pencils to work in the not too distant future.
