It’s not long before we arrive back in Tasmania after our 12 month ‘gap year’ trip on the Australian mainland. It has been a wonderful experience for Val and I and I can honestly say that it has been life-changing.

How this trip will impact on my art is yet to be seen, but I expect some changes in the way I think, work and in what I produce in the years to come.

One thing that has struck me is the power of ‘simplicity”, and I am very keen to pursue this as a theme in the study and understanding of the Australian landscape.

Today’s images are from a brick wall where we were staying near Gosford in NSW. I have already planned a major painting involving some of the images shown.

Why I am doing this and what it ‘says’ will be posted in the coming months.

One is never too old to learn.
