I’m close to finishing my latest coloured pencil painting in my “Cheshunt” series. This is my 6th and I have 2 others that are well advanced.
As with all the other paintings, this one features a mug. For the first time I have added a white porcelain mug instead of the rusty, old one that I found on the property several years ago.
The scene is the third painting featuring the lounge room in the former shearers’ quarters. My first two have been about the plight of farmers, this one is about a farmer’s wife.
Why is there a mug, alone on the table? What is the significance of having a white mug? Why is the room so desolate and dark? What is this painting really about?
All these questions will be addressed in my forthcoming artist’s statement along with the painting’s title.
