My latest painting that will feature next March at the Providore Mill Gallery in Launceston is completed. This is the 4th painting of rocks from Hervey Bay, a place that has some beautiful subjects (rocks) to paint!

As you can see, this is a ‘vertical’ composition, unlike most of my other paintings to date. I am aware of the need to ensure that my exhibition ‘hangs right’, and I shall be endeavouring to complete more verticals in the coming months. This will depend however on the composition of my chosen subjects.

The rocks at Hervey Bay are indeed fascinating and deserve to be featured in my exhibition. Their colour variations and abstract patterns have given me much pleasure over the past few weeks.

I have 2 more ‘possibles’ waiting, but I will paint other subjects over the coming weeks as I want a good deal of variety for next March’s showing.

Friday: Highlights of last Saturday’s Latrobe Art class.
