Stranger on the Shore, Tatlow’s Beach, Stanley

Coloured pencil on pastel board   60 x 40 cm.

My latest coloured pencil painting is the third in a series  featuring a pumpkin. I love the challenge of working with an everyday subject and using it in an unfamiliar setting, in this case one that is rather surreal.

What is a lump of pumpkin flesh doing on a pristine beach? How did it get there? Is there something deep and meaningful going on?

Such questions are welcome, but you need to work this one out for yourself.

Are you up for the challenge?

Below are the other 2 paintings in this series:

Pumpkinscape and On the Beach

All 3 paintings are for sale.

There’s something of Dali about these – strong work.

Hi Richard,Pumpkinscape is impressive,so reminescent you could have painted it here in the Karoo(South Africa)! Regards,Wessel
