Well it’s all up and finally open and what a lovely opening it was with a great performance by my youngest daughter Shannon, who read a poem by local artists and great friend, Margaret Baker, followed by a wonderful opening speech by dear friend, Mary Machen. I’m pleased with the exhibition both in content and display. Only one sale at the opening, but enough interest to encourage me to think that there will be more sales before the exhibition closes on April 3.
Below is the article that was published in Saturday’s edition of our local paper, The Examiner.
Later in the week I’ll post photos of the artwork on display.
Richard
Great article! Congratulations, Richard!
Thank you Ester!
I am really looking forward to see all the works on the wall! It is so satisfying to have them all up and looking great isn’t it? I know it would be nice to have more sales, but there is time … I once had the experience of actually taking the works off the wall at the end of the exhibition and a woman rushing in and saying ‘I’ll have that one, and that one ….’ she ended up buying 12 paintings (very small ones admittedly!) and 4 drawings and I came home on such a high!
What a happy ending Anna, well done! I only dream of such sales.
It did only happen once, but it gives me hope it can always happen again! Good luck!
Thanks Anna!
I thought the poem was a marvellous touch and really added something special to the opening.
I agree Tanya. It’s lovely to receive such an accolade.
The poem was lovely and Mary’s speech was excellent. Congratulations on the exhibition Richard. Hope you sell more pieces.
Thanks Edna, it was lovely seeing you at the opening.
